In the world of aesthetics, Ink & Glow is always on the lookout for innovative treatments that can help our clients achieve natural and long-lasting anti-aging results. Polynucleotide therapy, dubbed in the press "The Salmon Sperm Facial" is loved by the likes of Jennifer Aniston and is taking the aesthetics industry by storm. This treatment has been shown to increase the metabolic activity of skin cells and boost the production of collagen by increasing the number of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. This promising option aligns perfectly with Ink & Glow's philosophy of helping clients avoid injecting toxins like Botox in their pursuit of younger-looking skin. Instead, the treatment focuses on harnessing and regenerating the body's natural building blocks, such as collagen and fibroblasts. In this blog post, we will delve into what polynucleotides are and how they can benefit you.
What are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides, often abbreviated as PNs, are biological molecules consisting of long chains of nucleotides. Nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA and RNA, and they play a fundamental role in cell function and repair. In aesthetic medicine, polynucleotides are derived from natural sources like salmon or trout DNA. They are purified and then used as a powerful tool to enhance skin health.
What Can Polynucleotides Treat?
Polynucleotides are well-known for their ability to stimulate collagen, elastin, and intrinsic hyaluronic acid production. This, in turn, can help create firmer, plumper skin with fewer visible lines and wrinkles. PN’s can also aid in minimizing the appearance of scars, including those caused by acne or surgery. Polynucleotides can accelerate wound healing, improve blood flow to the area, reduce inflammation and redness, and produce more healthy collagen. They can also improve skin hydration and boost radiance, creating a natural, healthy glow. Additionally, this treatment is a powerful tool for clients with thinning hair or areas of hair loss, as it can improve the function of cells and stimulate blood flow. Polynucleotides can be used anywhere on the body where you have concerns, but commonly treated areas include the face (specifically under the eyes and around the lips), neck, décolletage, and scalp.
The Treatment Itself
Polynucleotide treatments are administered using a mesotherapy technique. We create small “bleb” like mounds in the skin whilst injecting small amounts of solution in areas that need rejuvenating. The treatment can sting in some areas, so we will always apply a good layer of topical numbing cream before your treatment. Once we start, the treatment will take around 15-30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. After polynucleotide treatments, you may experience minor swelling, bumps, redness, or bruising. However, these side effects are usually temporary. Because of the downtime, we advise that you have this treatment at least two to three weeks before any big event, such as a wedding or party, to allow all side effects to resolve fully.
Treatments That Work Well With Polynucleotides
To maximize the benefits of polynucleotide treatments, we recommend combining them with the following procedures: Microneedling, Profhilo, or Radiofrequency.
Recommended Treatment Plan
For optimal results, we suggest a treatment course of 3 sessions, spaced 3-4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 6-12 months. This approach ensures gradual and long-lasting improvements in your skin while maintaining its natural appearance.
Costs
We offer polynucleotide treatments for £200 per session or £520 for 3 treatments. You can book a consultation or treatment via our online booking page or contact us for more information.
