WHAT ARE FINE LINE TATTOOS?
Fine Line tattoos feature very delicate and thin lines made using small needles with tight configurations. This differs from a traditional tattoo, which typically has much thicker lines. Because the lines are so thin, they hold less pigment than standard tattoos, making them more likely to require a touch-up. This is generally done 4 to 6 weeks after your initial treatment.
Fine line tattoos have massively grown in popularity over the last 5 years, they’re subtle and delicate, allowing a wider selection of people to partake in tattoo culture without committing to the heavier aesthetic of more traditional tattoos. Fine Line tattoos also offer greater flexibility with regards to size as the thinner needles give the ability to scale down designs while still keeping the design crisp.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BOOKING A FINE LINE TATTOO WITH INK & GLOW?
If you've decided to book a fine line tattoo with Ink & Glow, there are a few steps to complete before we can schedule your appointment
If you’ve selected a design from our inspiration gallery, please email the chosen artwork along with your preferred size and placement to hello@inkandglow.com. We will then provide you with a quote and our upcoming availability.
If you would like us to create a custom tattoo for you, please email us your ideas with as much detail as possible. It would be helpful if you include any inspiration pictures you've collected, a rough idea of the size, and the location on your body where you want the tattoo. We will then provide you with a rough quote and information on our upcoming availability. If you decide to proceed, we will ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit to begin designing your tattoo. Before your appointment, we will send you the design for your approval. Please note that for custom designs, we typically require up to two weeks to create the artwork, although it is often completed sooner.
Aftercare is essential for ensuring that your fine line tattoo heals properly and maintains its appearance for years to come. Before scheduling your appointment, please read through the aftercare instructions and ensure you are able to commit to following the key guidelines.
Immediately after your procedure
After your tattoo it will be covered with plastic wrap. Please leave the wrap on for about 3 hours. Once you remove the wrap, wash your hands first, then gently cleanse the tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Do not scrub the area; instead, use your hands to lightly apply the soap. After cleaning, pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or a flannel cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can irritate the skin. Next, apply a small amount of After Inked tattoo ointment, using a very thin layer to prevent the tattoo from becoming too moist.
During the Healing Process
To ensure proper healing of your tattoo, please follow these guidelines:
1. Keep the tattoo moisturised with the "After Inked" ointment provided. Apply it 2-3 times a day, but avoid over-soaking the skin; it should still be able to breathe.
2. Do not immerse your tattoo in water (such as pools, hot tubs, or baths) until it has fully healed, which typically takes 7 to 10 days. Showers are okay, but keep them brief and avoid direct streams of water on your new tattoo.
3. Keep your new tattoo out of direct sunlight. After it has healed, apply sunscreen to protect it from UV rays, which can fade the ink over time.
4. Wear loose-fitting clothing around your tattoo to prevent irritation and allow the skin to breathe and heal properly.
5. As your tattoo heals, it may scab and peel. It's crucial not to pick at it or scratch it, as this can damage the design and increase the risk of infection.
6. Monitor your tattoo for signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling, or an unpleasant odour.

What colour options are available?
We use black and red inks as standard. However, if you have a bespoke design that requires another colour then it can be ordered in.
I've lost a loved one and i'd like a tattoo done in their handwriting, is this something you can do?
Yes, absolutely! A tattoo can be a lovely way to pay tribute to a loved one who has passed. We will need you to send over a handwriting sample in the wording that you'd like tattooed and we can stencil it from there.
Do fine line tattoos hurt?
The needles used are so fine that the tattoos aren't painful, most people report feeling a mild sensation but certainly not painful.
Do you have a list of handwriting options i can look at for my script tattoo?
Yes, if you look in the inspiration gallery, there are some script options available. If nothing catches your interest, we have access to thousands of additional styles.
Is the top up appointment included in the price?
Yes, the price you pay includes a top-up appointment 4 to 6 weeks later. However, if your tattoo has significantly faded, it may indicate that the aftercare instructions were not properly followed. In this case, an additional charge will apply. This will be discussed before any tattooing begins.
Is there anywhere on the body you won't tattoo?
Due to the healing variables we don't recommend getting tattoos on hands or feet.
